Frequently Asked Questions
What types of content do you focus on?
The stories of wildlife conservation “Wonderkeepers.”
I help wildlife conservation organizations share and preserve the stories of their most dedicated supporters.
To inspire a new generation of Wonderkeepers by helping them recognize themselves in the stories of these heroes.
I don’t write campaign copy (direct response mail and email). I don’t write grant proposals.
Telling these stories is my specialty. And my passion.
Do you conduct the interview for the story?
I’d be happy to do the interview. Or to work from a transcript. Either way. When I do the interview, I ask specific questions to bring out the most powerful details of their story.
How much time will you need to complete the project?
It depends on the story and how it unfolds.
Some will come together quickly. Others will take a little more time – especially when care and sensitivity are important.
We can establish a target date for completion when the work begins.
How do you handle sensitive information?
With care and respect.
These stories aren’t just content – they represent someone’s life, values, and intentions.
The finished product has to be a story the featured donor would be proud to tell themselves.

What makes these stories effective?
It features the Wonderkeeper as the hero of the story.
An effective story forms a connection to the reader – if it allows them to see themselves inside the story, in the role of the hero – if it helps them dream of stepping into that role themselves. Someday.
It features your conservation organization as the vehicle through which the donor ensures the very things they care most about will outlive them.
Will you keep me posted on the progress of your work?
Absolutely.
Let me know which steps in the interview and writing process require your review and approval.
I will contact you promptly during the process if I require clarification or reach a point where I need your feedback.
Technically, I work as your independent contractor. However, I view myself as a temporary member of your team.
Which means I will work within the guidelines set up for me – by you, and the organization.
My ultimate goal is to produce a story that enhances the success of the organization’s mission. I view that as my contribution to wildlife conservation and habitat preservation.
Why should we tell these stories?
Because they honor your most loyal supporters.
Because they display what a special love of Nature looks like.
Because they demonstrate that your best supporters are real people.
Because they evoke a positive neurochemical response (the release of oxytocin) in the reader’s brain, which is associated with increased giving.
Because these stories are part of your organization’s legacy.

I’m Clint Wilkinson – the “Wildlife Conservation Storyteller.”
And I’m a conservation Wonderkeeper.
What made me fall in love with wildlife conservation? Catching dragon flies and handling “Roly Poly” pugs as a kid. Camping as a Boy Scout. Hiking along the Appalachian Trail. Canoeing down crystal-clear, spring-fed rivers in Central Florida. Lying on gypsum sand dunes under a full moon at White Sands National Monument. Scuba diving the reefs of Guam. Exploring the evergreen-forested mountains of New Mexico, its high desert plains, and its interesting mesas. Tracking bats overhead at twilight as they begin their hunt for an insect meal. Trying to count manatees on a frosty morning as they crowd into a nearby Florida canal, keeping one another warm via shared body heat. All of these experiences and more.
